DO: Predoctoral Research Oversight Committee

Current Members

Antonella Fruscione/HEA (Chair), Sylvain Korzennik/SSP, and James Babb/AMP

Composition/Term

Three members from different scientific divisions serve for a 2-year term. The Chair is chosen from among those who have already served 1 year and serves during the second year of her or his term. The Predoctoral Research Oversight Committee (PROC) is comprised of former Fellowship Selection Committee (FSC) members who have served a 2-year term and are rotating off the FSC.

Charge

The Committee is charged with the responsibility to review, accept, or reject predoctoral fellowship applications previously reviewed and accepted by the potential SAO advisors that are received and reviewed in April each year. Other duties include reading the Predoctoral Research Review Committee reports on each current SAO Predoctoral Fellow, which are generated by the Predoc Research Review Committees (PRRC) each spring. Members of the PROC meet in May or June each year to discuss the reports and make recommendations for improvement in the students' research programs. Members of the PROC also attend and support the annual SAO Predoc Symposium held in late February or early March.
