TITLE: Physical Science Technician; Computer Clerk/Assistant; and Office Clerk.
TYPE OF POSITION: Federal and Trust Fund (Non Federal) Temporary, with various work schedules
LOCATION: Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory is accepting applications for summer employment in the following
areas:
- Scientific research support and laboratory support performing tasks such as taking measurements,
setting up experiments, repairing laboratory equipment, analyzing data using a computer, and checking
scientific references.
: Physical Science Technician, GS/IS-1311, Grades 2 through 5, $11.25 to $15.93
- Computer support in the area of systems/network administration, programming, data processing, website
development and user support.
: Computer Clerk/Assistant, GS/IS-335, Grades 2 through 5, $11.55 to $15.93
- General office support performing a variety of clerical tasks such as typing and word processing,
photocopying, collating, mailing or distributing documents, filing, answering telephones, referring calls,
and taking and relaying messages.
Office Clerk, GS/IS-303, Grades 2 through 5, $11.55 to $15.93
NOTE: Applications received by April 16, 2008 will be given first consideration. Applications received after

including fingerprinting. Relocation expenses will not be paid for these positions.

the Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Standards Handbook. This handbook is available for review in
our Human Resources Department or at any Federal personnel office.
