UVCS MISSION LOG ---------------- Date: 14 April 2003 ----- Last revision: 16 April 2003 (Wu) -------------- File Name: 2003.04.14.a.log ----------- Compiled by: M. Uzzo, R. Wu ------------ UVCS Activity: Load and Start Equatorial Coronal Hole Observation -------------- for 14 - 15 April 2003 Load Equatorial Coronal Hole Observation for 15 April 2003 Load Mini-Synoptic for 15 April 2003 SOHO Activity: Network outages between DSS-66 and SOHO POCC were -------------- experienced. These outages were of such duration as to preclude instrument team commanding (also SOHO SVM activities) until well after what would have been the end of the DSS-66 view period. DSS-16 came up only long enough to allow SOHO FOT to put spacecraft SSR into record prior to the scheduled station gap. To make matters worse, the ACE spececraft, which was scheduled for manuevers, was also affected by these network outages. As a result, SOHO DSN coverage to be provided by DSS-27 starting at approximately 18:25 UT had to be shifted to start at approximately 21:05 UT in order to accomodate ACE. SVM activities then needed to be performed, which further delayed instrument commanding. EOF Staff: J. Kohl: Lead Scientist ---------- R. Wu: Commander M. Goal is to measure the properties of a non-polar coronal hole. In particular we are interested in the coronal conditions (intensities and line widths for HI Ly-alpha and OVI 1032/1037) as a function of height and latitude. We will compare these properties with the ones found in polar coronal holes. Roll positions are VL-corrected for PA=257 degrees.
