Goal is to measure the properties of a polar coronal hole. In particular we are interested in the coronal conditions (intensities and line widths for HI Ly-alpha and OVI 1032/1037) as a function of height and latitude. We will compare these properties with the ones found in non-polar coronal holes. Roll positions are VL-corrected for PA=180 degrees. LYA HV off / OVI voltage at 215, LYA grating position now at 128000 "permanently". Synoptic was interrupted due to high proton flux associated with an X18 Solar Flare which occured at approximately 10 UT, 28 October 2003. This information concerning the flare was passed to UVCS team by SOC. Additional information from RHESSI Major Flare Watch update: Target region, NOAA 0486, produced a very large event, an X17 event at 10/28/11:10 UT. This is one of the largest flares of solar cycle 23. A very large CME was associated with this event. 0486 is capable of producing additional major flares.
