	1) UVCS in Soft Safe Configuration

	Sequence: Manual

	SCI_SPEC: Synoptic was interrupted due to high proton flux
		  associated with an X18 Solar Flare which occured
		  at approximately 10 UT, 28 October 2003.  This 
		  information concerning the flare was passed to UVCS 
		  team by SOC.

		  Additional information from RHESSI Major Flare Watch update:

		  Target region, NOAA 0486, produced a very large event, an 
		  X17 event at 10/28/11:10 UT. This is one of the largest 
		  flares of solar cycle 23. A very large CME was associated 
		  with this event.  0486 is capable of producing additional 
		  major flares.
