To avoid having to potentially ramp down Detector High Voltage for Fixed Parameter upload, new Coronal Hole scripts tested out in the Batch Queue, then flushed. UVCS recovery followed. Detector High Voltage turned on and ramped up. Test exposures taken at various heights and Roll Angles to ascertain if return to normal science operations is warranted. Goal is to measure the properties of a polar coronal hole. In particular we are interested in the coronal conditions (intensities and line widths for HI Ly-alpha and OVI 1032/1037) as a function of height and latitude. We will compare these properties with the ones found in non-polar coronal holes. Roll positions are VL-corrected for PA=185 degrees. Another solar flare occured at apprimately 2041 UT, 29 October 2003. Proton Flux began to rise once more, and it was decided to safe UVCS. This information concerning the flare was passed to UVCS team by Mauna Loa Solar Observatory. Additional information from RHESSI Major Flare Watch update: Solar activity remains high. Active region NOAA 0486 produced another large (X10) flare on 29-Oct-2003 20:37 UT, accompanied by a proton event and halo CME. Further C- and M- class event expected with a good chance for another X-class flare.
