	SCI_SPEC: We intend to observe absorption by the exosphere of Venus in 
		  the Ly alpha line against a background of coronal Ly alpha 
		  emission during the time when Venus is above 1.5 Rsun but 
		  within 2.7 Rsun where the corona is reasonably bright.  At 
		  larger distances we will attempt to detect the ion tail of 
		  Venus in C II and C III.  The ion tail observation includes 
		  searches for H I, He I and O I emission based on predictions 
		  by Geraint Jones for the shape of the ion tail.
