Recordings of Mars Express' radio signal will be used to search for Faraday rotation fluctuations due to waves in the solar corona. We expect Mars Explorer to pass behind a streamer on September 10-11 at heights ranging between 6 and 4 solar radii, and the north coronal hole between 4 and 3 solar radii on September 12-16. UVCS will observe O VI and Lyman lines to determine kinetic temperatures, average densities and outflow speeds.
